PROJECT

Dominion (NYSE: D) has signed a definitive agreement for the Fossil Division of Shaw´s Power Group to proceed with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for a new

585 MW electricity generating plant in southwest Virginia. The new plant will incorporate clean coal technologies and two circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers supplying steam to a single steam turbine generator. The EPC contract will be executed in two phases. The first phase involves design optimization, engineering, major equipment selection, and finalization of the project cost estimate. Upon a successful development phase and necessary state and regulatory approvals, Shaw expects to continue with the second phase, including all of the engineering, procurement, and construction activities. Based on current projections, the new facility would be in commercial operation by the summer of 2012.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is for an experienced Electrical Designer. Primary responsibility will be the physical layout design and creation of construction documents for electrical raceways, including cable tray, hangers, conduit, and underground ductbank systems using Intergraph Microstation, Smartplant, and PDS. Establish cable tray routes and perform sizing calculations. Perform conduit sizing calculations. Work with clients on conceptual design and coordinate internally with other disciplines and externally with suppliers. Direct and supervise activities of drafters. Gather supporting documents/information as needed to support design activities. Read and understand the EPC contract portions of electrical layout. Review and understand drawings defining steel and equipment arrangements. Operate 3D modeling software within multidiscipline environment. Review and comment on vendor drawings. Review design deliverables independently. Generate design deliverables using policies, procedures, codes and standards. Work with engineering on proposal development and estimates. Field walk-downs and data gathering. Completed work must meet NEC and NFPA standards and acceptance criteria for technical competency, cost and schedule.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must have three or more years of experience using a 3D plant modeling software and must have experience using Intergraph Microstation. Applicant must also have at least five years experience in the power industry. Thorough knowledge of electrical distribution equipment. Expert in performing raceway sizing calculations. Proficient in single phase and three phase electrical distribution systems. Ability to calculate load bearing support requirements, and select materials. Demonstrates proficiency and ability to work independently, with infrequent validation. Applicant must be familiar with NEC and NFPA standards. A.S. degree or equivalent experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in Intergraph Smart-Plant, Smart-Sketch and/or Smart-Instruments.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Position is full-time, salaried, non-exempt and is located in Shaw´s Power Headquarters in uptown Charlotte, NC. Salary range is from $70,000 - $90,000. Overtime may be required to meet project demands. The dress code is business casual.
