Electrical Controls Engineer – Omaha, NE
Doherty Career Solutions has partnered with a leading food manufacturer in Omaha, Nebraska in search of Electrical Controls Engineers. Due to company expansion, a need has arisen for both mid and senior-level engineering talent. The Electrical Controls Engineers will apply automation and controls knowledge to flexible batch systems as well as statistical/model based type of control. They may also be responsible for motion based packaging systems, or integration of packaging machines into optimized packaging lines.
Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with all Platform engineering groups to develop annual and 3-year capital plans by recommending automation, controls, and power distribution improvements and solutions.
2. Develop enterprise-wide standards, guidelines, and templates for automation, control hardware, software, and programming, and electrical distribution power for application with Front-Ending Loading Packages (FELs) methodology.
3. Work with other engineering disciplines to design and specify complete and effective control and power solutions by preparing clear, concise and thorough FEL packages that reflect prudent due diligence.
4. Perform reviews of FEL packages for technology assessment, proposed arrangements and placements, infrastructure requirements, suitability, etc.
5. Provide on-site support to project teams during design reviews, initial start-up activities, improvement implementation, and technical troubleshooting.
6. Identify and support platform and enterprise programs and solutions to improve manufacturing capacity, capability, and sustainability.
7. Keep current with the latest automation, control, and power distribution technology, as well as emerging industry regulations and codes.
Requirements:
1. BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required.
2. 3+ years of experience in process control and automation within food or consumer products manufacturing is required. Experience with complex batch chemical process may be considered.
3. Background applying flexible batch systems as well as some experience in statistical/model based type control preferred.
4. Experience with motion based packaging systems, as well as integration of packaging machines into optimized packaging lines is also a plus.
5. Advanced Process Control, Packaging Control, and Computer Integration is preferred.
6. Excellent technical knowledge, verbal and written communication skills, technical analysis, problem solving skills, and project organizational skills are required.
7. Proven ability to work within a multi-plant and cross-functional matrix organization.
