PURPOSE: The Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP) is a three year rotational program designed to develop high potential professional employees for future leadership positions within the Engineering functions. The program provides a diverse set of experiences through challenging rotational assignments, technical and leadership training, advanced education, leadership opportunities, and mentoring. The individual will participate in the ELDP and will perform academic and professional engineering technical work which is specific in nature and requires knowledge and application of basic engineering principles, theories and concepts to complete assignments under direct technical supervision. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: ELDP Education and Development Responsibilities: Participates in all academic coursework, leadership training and skill development events offered by ELDP including: Participates in the annual Leadership Development Conference (LDC) and leadership training events throughout the year as established by the program. Three semesters of in-house academic training as part of the ELDP Technical Development Curriculum (TDC). Maintaining specific academic performance standards for all TDC coursework as established by the program. Applies for admission and gains acceptance into a technical graduate master?s degree program at an ELDP partner university and maintains specific academic performance standards for all university coursework as established by the program. Participate in and/or lead company, Engineering, ELDP and other discretionary leadership activities that support the conduct of company business. ELDP Job Rotation Responsibilities: Participates in a series of professional technical engineering job rotations lasting nominally 6-9 months in length. Rotations will be across different programs, business areas and functional and technical disciplines with the company. Specific rotation responsibilities may include any of the activities normally associated with technical operations entry level positions. Specific examples include, but are not limited to: Receives directions and instructions in the form of assignment objectives, alternative approaches and solutions from supervisor or senior engineering personnel. May lead employees as needed. Works from specific assignments from supervisor or senior engineering personnel which may include design and development of specific software, mechanical, or hardware, components, compilation of data for research investigation by study groups; performance of parameters that have been determined; analysis of test data; calculation of results. Performs specific professional technical assignments of an investigatory, design or test nature requiring limited analysis and evaluation, selection and application of basic engineering principles, theories and techniques. Participates in the investigation, development and testing where overall operational, space, functional and similar design requirements have been specified. Designs or selects available designs to meet requirements. Evaluates merits of design with higher skilled engineers. Acquires familiarization with the project, engineering or research effort and company engineering practices and standards. Instructs and directs the work of technicians, if assigned. Prepares charts, diagrams and reports expressing technical progress and accomplishments measured against specific plans. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Must have the following:

Requires a Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering or Computer Science with a GPA of 3.0 or higher from an accredited college. Other requirements include: an excellent academic record, outstanding communication skills, proven leadership abilities, successful participation in a variety of extracurricular activities, willingness to carry a heavy work and course load, demonstrated employment accomplishment, and the capacity and motivation for hard work. This is an entry level position usually encompassing the first three (3) years of professional work. Will be expected to actively pursue a Master's Degree (electrical, mechanical, computer, systems engineering, computer science or physics). Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
