Huntsman has an immediate need for an Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager at its McIntosh, Alabama, Advanced Materials manufacturing site. This position has a dual reporting relationship to the Site Manager and Regional EH&S Manager.
This position is responsible for all EH&S activities for McIntosh, including serving as the liaison with Corporate EH&S, Legal, product safety groups, and regulatory agencies.
Key responsibilities are to supervise a four person team that is responsible for:
Maintaining a thorough knowledge of all pertinent regulations. Informing management of pending regulations and their impact on the McIntosh site.Conducting internal and external audits, including audits of 3rd party waste contractors and toll manufacturers.Preparing and issuing site monthly EHS statistics.Preparing for and representing the site during internal and external EHS audits.Overseeing development, implementation and maintenance of site, business and corporate EHS programs to ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements.Maintaining EH&S records.Coordinating McIntosh site emergency response and evacuation plans. Serving as TSCA Site Coordinator.Providing site EHS training to site employees.Supervise the following EHS positions: Environmental Engineer, Environmental Supervisor, Training Administrator, and Safety Coordinator.Education Requirements and Work History
Bachelor of Science, Chemistry/Chem or Engineering preferred, or equivalent.
Chemical plant or process development experience.
Regulatory compliance and auditing experience.
Special Requirements & Qualifications
Position requires general background and knowledge of plant operations. Must be able to tour site and rapidly respond to emergency situations. Good problem solving, stress handling, and analytical thinking skills required. Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing with management, regulatory personnel, and plant associates. Presentation skills, EH&S training, and good interpersonal skills required.Good organizational skills are critical in order to establish an efficient structure and systems.Requires proficient computer skills with conventional word processing and spreadsheets.Flexible working hours, some travel.Must have the ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
