The Drainage Staff Engineer responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Analysis and design of drainage aspects of transportation projects of various size and complexity.Calculations, plan preparation, specifications and report writing, quantity calculations, and cost estimating.Preparation of water resource permit applications including IDNR-OWR Floodway Construction, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 404, County stormwater management permits, and others.Preparation of erosion control plans and storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs).

Projects range from:

Phase I engineering including Location Drainage Studies and Hydraulic Reports.Phase II engineering including preparation of bid documents.Principal clients include IDOT, Illinois Tollway, and numerous County DOTs. Required Skills

Demonstrated Proficiency in:

Taking ownership of tasks, following tasks through to completion with a high attention to detail and quality.The ability and flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously.A desire to acquire new skills and take the initiative to learn more about Civil Engineering.Meeting deliverable deadlines while assuring compliance with established scope of work.Meeting and exceeding client and project team expectations.

Required Technical Skills:

Strong interest in stormwater management including storm sewer systems and detention facilities.Experience working on transportation projects; familiarity with IDOT standards and specifications a plus.Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic computer programs including TR-20, HEC-RAS, HY-8 and others a plus.Experience with Microstation, GEOPAK, AutoCAD and Land Development a plus. Educational requirements/qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.0-2 years of experience working in the field of Civil Engineering.Engineering Intern (EIT) registration in Illinois or the ability to obtain within 6 months.Strong computer skills, specifically in the area of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Strong technical written and verbal communication skills.Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate concepts and ideas.Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a multi-discipline team.
