Amylin Pharmaceuticals, founded in 1987, is a growing biopharmaceutical company committed to improving lives through the discovery, development and commercialization of innovative medicines. Our Research and Development team has significant experience in metabolic diseases and is focused on investigating the biological actions and utilities of bioactive peptides and other compounds as potential drug candidates. Currently, we have a great opportunity for a highly motivated team leader to manage sales personnel and ensure sales and corporate goals are met.

Specifically, you will:

• Meet/exceed district and corporate goals by the creation, execution, and ongoing development of a district business plan
• Recruit, hire, train, and coach a team of sales representatives to meet or exceed set objectives
• Identify performance issues, initiate and manage performance improvement plans, implement progressive discipline inclusive of termination decisions
• Effectively utilize and manage Amylin approved resources to optimize return on investment within district
• Foster account relationship development for all customer segments, including medical doctors, clinical diabetes educators, managed care organizations, retail, institutions, and government
• Identify and understand market and industry trends
• Ensure teamwork among Amylin colleagues (such as Medical Science Liaisons, Diabetes Clinical Liaisons, National Account Managers, and Marketing) to meet or exceed customer needs, corporate goals, and Amylin’s position in the marketplace
• Assess training needs and identify or create opportunities to develop sales representatives for enhanced performance in current position or, if desired by sales representatives, to assume additional roles as needed by Amylin.
• Serve as a resource to Regional Business Director on ad hoc assignments
• Complete required/requested reports and administrative functions in an accurate and timely manner
• Establish work standards that are aligned with Amylin’s corporate culture, vision, and values
• Adhere to company standards for personal honesty, integrity, trust, respect and accountability
• Perform all responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable state and federal rules and regulations

This position requires:

• A BA/BS in healthcare or related healthcare/sales credentials or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in sales district management in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or healthcare industry
• A valid driver’s license
• A proven track record with data analysis and market data interpretation
• Diabetes and/or endocrinology sales experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in sales training, managed care, marketing, hospital sales, and/or new product launches is desirable.
