Pacific Sunwear, also known as PacSun, is a rapidly growing and extremely successful specialty retailer of casual apparel, footwear and accessories designed to meet the lifestyle needs of active teens and young adults. Our corporate office is located in Anaheim and is equipped with a cafe, workout room with showers, basketball and volleyball court.
Position Description:
POSITION SCOPE: Provide managerial responsibility for the assigned stores consistent with the short and long term interests of the company, its team members, and customers. Motivate and inspire the district to complete the sales generation, operational and human resources functions to ensure customer function, maximum productivity and profitability and compliance with company procedures. Train and develop store and area managers, and monitor development of assistant/associate and store managers and team leaders. Maintain team relationships with corporate business partners. Consistently ensure that the assigned district is providing the highest level of service and upholding the Mission Statement and Core Values. Achieve budgeted revenue goals, shrink percent and monitor expenses. A high level of intellect, discretion, and creativity will be necessary to maximize district results. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Leadership: • Ensure that the district adheres to Performance Assessment steps and promote “Above Target” core value results in being opportunistic, promoting teamwork, taking ownership, displaying a sense of urgency, acting with integrity, encouraging openness, and a willingness to be adaptable. • Develop and support a positive attitude toward PacSun/d.e.m.o. • Maintain district management morale by recognizing outstanding performance and service. • Provide an “open door” policy where Managers and Team Members are free to express their concerns and feelings without fear of retribution or ill will. • Empower the store managers to play the roles of gatekeeper, facilitator, and courageous decision making to drive the best results. • Create a positive work environment that results in high retention and lower turnover. Training and Staff Development: • Through manpower and succession planning, develop a pool of potential Assistant, Associate, and Store Managers for future openings to meet long-range company objectives. • Motivate and develop staff in order to encourage their professional development with use of training and selling tools • Actively coach and counsel managers to reach their fullest potential, maximize business opportunities and promote them to the next level. • Work with Store Management Team to ensure consistent communications, training and development of team members. Operations: • Ensure that all procedures, policies, and shrink awareness programs are thoroughly understood and implemented by managers. • Manage district sales by setting monthly goals, analyzing monthly plans, and managing labor hours. • Ensure compliance with all audit policies by accounting for merchandise sales through accurate recording of customer transactions and perpetual counts. Store Planning: • Allocate district staffing and scheduling budgets and oversee all payroll/non-payroll expense control. • Follow payroll matrix to reach payroll goals by preparing the labor schedule in a timely manner to ensure that the district goals will be met through appropriate planning and organization of staff. Merchandising/Marketing: • Ensure proper execution of floor moves, merchandise placement and promotional event set-ups. • Ensure merchandising presentation and replenishment meet company standards through directing management team. • Oversee all merchandising guidelines. • Timely and accurate oversight of promotions. • Ensure a clean, professional working environment in accordance with Pac Sun/d.e.m.o.’s merchandise presentation standards. Inventory: • Ensure that Store Managers manage the required annual physical inventories by scheduling and overseeing the inventory process in the district. • Ensure that the district follow all policies specific to inventory control, paperwork flow, over/short logs, markdowns, timeliness of reporting, receipt of goods, merchandise transfers and all related inventory matters. Customer Service: • Celebrate customer service successes and coach to improve performance. • Instill in Store Managers the meaning and importance of customer service as outlined in the company mission statement. Empower staff to appropriately “use their best judgment” in all customer service matters. • Ensure that the district provides customer service that exceeds customer expectations and support PacSun customer service and selling programs; such as Leader of the Pac, PACE, and the Pac 10 selling steps. • Be personally available to all customers to communicate and identify their needs and address their questions and concerns. • Ensure that the district maintains consistent ADS (average dollar sale) results. Loss Prevention: • Ensure that the district protect company assets through promoting awareness of Loss Prevention. • Ensure that the district maintain acceptable inventory shrinkage. It is measured as a percentage of sales and should not exceed established goals. • Ensure that the district maintain store security systems, including store security camera, inventory control tags, burglar alarms and cash handling procedures. • District adherence to all banking procedures. • Ensure that Store Managers enforce all Loss Prevention policies. Human Resources: • Manage and supervise store management team. Provide motivation and demonstrate leadership to improve customer satisfaction and sales performance. • Motivate Store Managers so that each Store Manager contributes to the productivity of the store. • Ensure that the district focus on employing Team Members who pursue passions that relate to our products and philosophy. • Ensure that the district administer Team Members discipline in a fair and consistent manner. • Recommend the promotion or termination of management personnel. Communication: • Maintain excellent communication with corporate office and Regional Manager via conference calls, district meetings, one-on-ones, voicemail, corporate visits, etc. • Maintain open and positive relations with staff and peers. • Be prepared to discuss customer and merchandise feedback upon request. • Ensure company policy and procedures are communicated in a positive and timely manner and adhered to accordingly. • Clearly communicate company, district and store objectives so both managers and team members are well informed. Legal Compliance: • Ensure that the district is in complete compliance with all employment, State and Federal laws, including but not limited to wage and hour, human rights and equal employment opportunities. • Maintain safe working conditions for Team Members and customers. • Ensure that the district resolve safety concerns quickly. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Participation on special assignments and task forces as needed. • Perform all additional duties as assigned by the Regional Manager.

Qualifications:
• College background or equivalent retail fashion management experience • Five years of customer service related experience in a managerial role • Excellent oral communication skills • Effective interpersonal skills with all levels • Ability to develop and maintain excellent fashion merchandise presentation standards • Proven leadership skills in training, coaching, developing, motivating, and selling • Knowledge of lawful employment practices • Ability to read, interpret and set strategies based on various reports • Ability to manage corporate directives and maintain excellent records • Capable of maximizing business to achieve sales goals and reduce shrink and expenses OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: • Strong human relation skills and ability to work and support a team environment • Ability to set, meet and assist others in achieving goals • Willingness to use and gain knowledge of PacSun products and procedures PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to climb, reach, bend and lift up to 30 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally • Ability to communicate through oral interactions
