Job Description

Discovery Research Scientist - Biologics - CT

We are a privately-held biotechnology company developing novel, proprietary vaccines for influenza. The company's breakthrough vaccines are based on its proprietary platform, which dramatically improves vaccine immunogenicity and efficacy. The company's technology has the potential to significantly improve the cost-effectiveness, manufacturing capacity, and potency of influenza vaccines – key issues facing the clinical and public health communities.

Responsibilities:
* Lead a project focused on the discovery of novel TLR agonists.
* Selection and affinity maturation of novel peptide/protein ligands using phage display and protein evolution technologies.
* Develop selection strategies, execute screens, analyze hit sequence results, cloning and expressing the selected candidates.
* Construction of affinity maturation libraries as well as development and running screening assays.

Qualifications:

* Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Virology or related field.
* Intimate knowledge of cutting-edge molecular biology and bioinformatics tools and strategies for protein evolution.
* Experience using phage display in a screening program is highly desired.
* Experience in mammalian cell culture, cell-based and biochemical assay development, automation and screening is an advantage.
* Track record of patent applications and peer-reviewed publications.
* Established record of independent research accomplishments in recombinant protein engineering.
