Position Summary:

 

The Director of Training Design & Development is responsible for both setting the vision and creating and designing learning development strategies and training solutions for The Cheesecake Factory, Incorporated.  This position will support the Performance Development Department's goals, designing and developing innovative training solutions.  This leadership role has two main focal areas: first, hands-on creation of content, while also leading a team of professionals in developing and delivering training; and second, supporting our corporate initiatives centered on enhancing our guest experience.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Design, develop and evaluate learning objectives and instructional strategiesMake recommendations around the best use and application of technology as part of both the design and development of training programs as well as their creation and deliveryTranslate business needs into deliverable action plans, taking accountability for plan deliveryMaintain and leverage industry knowledge and network(s) to provide "best practice" and benchmarking resourcesDesign and develop the best methodologies for training delivery (E.g., stand up, web-based/on-line, multimedia and written materials)Assess performance development needs and analyze content for alignmentProvide editorial leadership and guidance for Performance Development and Guest Experience presentations and materialsApply strong familiarity in graphic design and multimedia (video, etc) to maximize effectiveness of materialsProvide guidance to end users on developing training strategies and best use of materials

Education & Experience

Bachelors degree or equivalent education, and 10 or more years relevant work experience

 

Skills & Qualifications:

Experience in Training & Development including: Adult learner methodology; up to date training methods; and job/task analysisDemonstrated creative capability Experience with a multi-brand and/or business concept environment - with hospitality environment strongly preferredAbility to conceive, create, and edit materials suited for all levels within the organizationExperience with managing department & project budgets Experience leading teams specializing in training & developmentStrong familiarity with publishing & multimedia tools: Publishing - MS Word, Adobe, Publisher, Quark, etc; Multimedia - Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Macromedia Flash/Camstasia/Video, or related toolsStrong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are essentialAbility to travel up to 15% of the year or as needed
