As a member of the Strategic Consulting team at Thomson Reuters North American Legal, you will partner with business leaders on a range of dynamic, high-profile projects to support the long-term operational and growth strategies of the company. Our clients include senior executives as well as the CEO, CFO, and Chief Strategy Officer.
 
Directors oversee each engagement. They provide leadership to the project team by guiding and motivating consultants to develop innovative solutions to client problems through brainstorming hypotheses, conducting analyses and interviews, and developing a framework to address the clients' concerns. Directors take a significant role in problem solving, project structure and management, and communication. Example projects include working with business leaders to create growth strategies, participating on cross-functional teams to develop products and improve processes, and assisting with domestic and international market and acquisition assessments. In addition to project responsibilities, Directors have the opportunity to participate in group development, including intellectual and organizational leadership, analysis and research guidance, and coaching team members.
 
Based on the individual's career goals and development, the candidate will have the opportunity to advance quickly within the strategy organization or in a line management capacity elsewhere in the company.
 
Major Areas of Accountability:
Shape and influence strategic business direction by framing strategic business options and recommending a course of action. Direct and coordinate project initiatives and ensure key deliverables are met through project management and the allocation of people resources. Leads international business planning and market assessment projects. Manages cross-functional teams and facilitates efforts to build new business strategies, rationalize processes, and identify, qualify and present strategic issues to top management. Develop quantitative models to support business development and value creations efforts. Collaborate with external consulting firms and internal staff groups such as Technology, Finance, and Human Resources. Prepares and conducts presentations to all levels of employees, including CEO, Chief Strategy Officer and other executives. Writes project justifications and proposals including capital expenditures for the Strategy group, and presents proposals to peers and other executives. Manage multiple key projects for TLR simultaneously, including budgets and strategic direction. Advise staff and assist in professional growth development. Consultant to managers on performance management, employee relations and recruitment. Education & Experience:
MBA required, concentration in finance, marketing or related field 5-7 years experience in business strategy including 3-4 years strategy consulting and 3-4 years extensive quantitative and analytical experience Some international business development/strategy experience or knowledge preferred Ability to facilitate large group sessions with top-level executives Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects with competing demands for resources Business plan development experience Knowledge and practical application of business and process-mapping techniques High-energy self-starter qualities with strong written and verbal communication skills Business acumen and ability to read and synthesize various financial and industry specific productivity and competitive analysis reports Ability to manage implementation of recommendations and track progress against identified objectives Experience in working within fast-paced, complex, dynamic, multi-cultural business environment Excellent presentation skills Ability to travel - estimated at 10%
