Despite our impressive list of past achievements, we’ve only begun to reach our vast potential.   Job Summary:The Director of Engineering provides leadership and day to day direction to j2 Engineering functional teams. Primary focus is on both strategic, as well as tactical, direction for engineering in the areas of project management, application design, development, test and deployment. Key to the job is the coordination with the VP of Engineering, the VP of Network Operations, and other Engineering and non-Engineering management members on systems planning, development, maintenance and implementation. This position is a key function in achieving the Company’s stated mission of leveraging the power of the Internet to provide business-critical communications services worldwide. Individual’s background should include five or more years in Engineering management as a company grew from tens to hundreds of millions in revenue and a few to many product lines. Experience in a variety of technologies including C++, JAVA, Oracle, UNIX, LINIX, and the Microsoft development platform is required. Experience in formal development methodologies is also a requirement.  Job Duties: ·          Manages the day to day tasks of the various j2 Engineering managers and team members. ·          Provides executive level strategic and tactical direction to j2 Engineering staff.  ·          Directs j2 Engineering plan to ensure that j2 Global is positioned to grow, able to seize new opportunities, maintain a superior financial position and provide exceptional service to its customers. ·          Works to ensure “on time” and “on budget” delivery of projects and applications. ·          Directs j2 Engineering managers to establish and manage to a set timetable for the deployment of technologies, including applications, within the Company. ·          Co-ordinates with Network Operations and senior Engineering leads to evaluate new technologies, architectures and services.  ·          Assists in the evaluation of technologies and companies in concert with the Company’s M&A activities. ·          Communicates regularly with senior Engineering management on the status of j2 development efforts, resources, and systems. ·          Follows all j2 Engineering processes related to requirements, design, coding, testing, QA, deployment and project management.  Job Requirements and Experience: ·          10-15 years experience managing the Engineering function of a mid to large software company. ·          Majority of experience must be in Internet related services for both consumer-facing and enterprise products. ·          Proven success through progressive management responsibility, ultimately leading to a senior Engineering level position. ·          Experience managing a group of 50-100 people is required.
