Director of Technical Accounting, International Reporting & Compliance

 

Position Summary:

The Director of Technical Accounting, International Reporting & Compliance is generally responsible for corporate external reporting, application of technical accounting standard, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  Responsibilities include but not limited to creating and implementing corporate policies and procedures, development of internal accounting controls to insure adherence to GAAP, SOX 404 and the analysis of the related activities and policies, providing technical guidance on new accounting standards to ensure adherence to SEC guidelines, GAAP and IFRS. This position will also be the key interface to the senior management and the Company’s external collaboration partners on financial matters and responsible for preparing the Company's external financial statements and various schedules and analyses for the Company's collaboration partners. 

 

Position Requirements:

Experience and Education (minimums)   

B.S./B.A. in Accounting or FinanceCPA or Equivalent Experience9+ years of public and private industry experience with progressively responsible financial management role3+ years of supervisory experience3+ years SEC reportingSOX 404 implementation experience a plus

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in the use of spreadsheet programs and other software applications for financial analysis and financial modelingAbility to quickly acclimate to complex financial accounting applications.  Exceptional organizational and communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to various levels of an organization.Creative approach to problem solving.  High aptitude for management, planning, and analyzing business situations.Commitment to process improvement and the ability to think “out-of the box”.Ability to self-motivate and function independently.Ability to recognize performance quality and motivate others towards improved performance.Ability to work long hours during “crunch” periods and special projects.

Primary Responsibilities

Reporting

Ensure quarterly IFRS financials accurately portray current operations and activities and are in compliance with IFRS. Active role in evaluating, developing and implementing new accounting policies and procedures to respond to changes in SEC/GAAP,  SOX 404 and IFRS requirementsInterface with various managers outside accounting to develop internal controls and Operational policies and procedures.Interface with Directors within finance to maintain a structured month-end close, SEC reporting and translation to IFRS within 12 business days.Direct and supervise subordinates and other finance department personnel to affect any changes necessary to improve the accuracy and timeliness of the monthly process.Research and writing technical memos and white papersDevelop and maintain procedure for financial statement reporting in SEC and IFRS formats. Work with Accounting, FP&A, and IT to maintain integrity of accounting system.Direct all SOX 404 related work.

Treasury

Interface with Investment advisors to maximize returns on investments while adhering to investment policy.Create and maintain operating cash flow reporting.Create and maintain system for monitoring credit worthiness of distributors and minimize aging of accounts receivable.Interface with Insurance broker to insure cost effective insurance coverage for corporate exposures.Tax Compliance and PlanningOther responsibilitiesWork with legal and other departments to review significant contracts and provide direction on accounting and financial terms.Manage complex technical issues and special projects (i.e. integration of new products and processes into financial reporting, reorganizations and process re-engineering).Stock Option Plan administration
