DIRECTOR OF TAX JOB SCHEDULE
Company Description
Our client's company is an independent energy company engaged in the acquisition, production, exploration and development of oil and gas, with properties concentrated in the Appalachian, Illinois and Permian regions. The Company's shares trade on NASDAQ, with a current market capitalization of US$1 billion. It operates out of the United States and has its head office in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where the Director of Tax is expected to be located.
Compensation Package
The Company offers a base salary range of US$150,000 - 175,000 per annum, plus bonus and stock options.
Job Summary
Oversees tax planning entities by interpreting tax regulations, completing tax returns and ensuring compliance
Job Duties and Responsibilities
1) Prepares federal, state, local and special tax returns by collecting, analyzing and formatting financial information
2) Complies with federal, state, local and SEC requirements by studying regulations; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions; communicating with attorneys, tax specialists and our transfer agent to ensure timely tax and SEC reporting requirements.
3) Prepares financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
4) Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
5) Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects.
Qualifications:
BS/BA in Accounting.
10-15 years of tax accounting experience in a public company.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Oil and gas industry experience
Skills:
1) Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws and reporting requirements.
2) Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with employees, vendors and company contacts.
3) Competent computer skills to perform essential functions listed above.
