FULL TIME ACADEMIC YEAR FACULTY POSITION
POSITION: Director of Museum Communication
DEPARTMENT: Museum Studies
DESCRIPTION: Director/Full-Time faculty position - Master of Arts Program in Museum Communication (rank open).
PROGRAM: The Department of Museum Studies offers a MA in Museum Education, MA in Museum Communication, and a MFA in Museum Exhibition Planning and Design. The Museum Studies department has close associations with regional, national and international museums and institutions and draws departmental faculty and visiting experts from a broad region and professional expertise.
This Museum Communication graduate program emphasizes the application of contemporary theory to practice in museum work, focusing on the skills and understanding required by museum professionals who interact with the public. Students specialize in administration, public relations and marketing, collections management, development, and museum applications of digital technology.
The Director develops and teaches courses for students in this program as well as the other Museum Studies programs. Beyond teaching the director is responsible for student recruitment and advising, advises theses, places interns, manages curricular changes, is involved in planning budgets, recommends adjunct faculty, and works collaboratively with the Museum Studies full-time faculty team. The Director is also responsible to represent the Department of Museum Studies regionally, nationally and internationally

REQUIRED:Applicants must possess a broad, critical vision of contemporary museum practice; be qualified to teach in a multidisciplinary curriculum; hold an advanced/terminal degree in an appropriate discipline; demonstrate a national record of achievement in professional museum practice in at least one of the areas of concentration, teaching experience, and/or scholarship. Focus in History or Decorative Arts preferred.
RANK: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
