The Opportunity
The Director of Medical and Surgical Services is responsible for administrative oversight of the 25-bed medical step-down unit, the 26-bed respiratory step-down unit, the 28-bed internal medicine unit, the 25-bed surgical orthopedics unit, and the 25-bed surgical recovery unit. This position reports to the vice president of patient care services and is supported by five nurse managers (direct reports), as well as unit based educators, case managers, and social workers.
Qualified candidates will be registered nurses with progressive leadership experience in a similarly-sized acute-care organization, or who are currently at the manager level in a larger organization and are seeking a promotional opportunity. Ideal individuals should have a passion for nursing and providing patient-centric high-quality care, and an ability to grow and develop service lines. The successful candidate will be politically savvy with the ability to develop strong working relationships with physicians, departmental staff, and administration, as well as the ability to mentor staff. BSN is required and a Master’s degree is preferred.

This is a 385-bed, not-for-profit, Joint Commission accredited hospital and regional referral center offering comprehensive cardiac, medical, surgical, pediatric, rehabilitative, psychiatric, cancer, and neurological care, as well as pain management, wound care, and home care services.
