This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for the overall development and operation of the Health Education program at Clinicas Del Camino Real, Incorporated.  Participates with administrative, medical, fiscal and other personnel in program planning, comprehensive health planning and evaluation; establishes and maintains channels of communication for public cooperation and awareness of community problems; establishes liaison with other health agencies and programs for coordination of public health education; provides staff orientation and training to health education priorities and processes, implements health education programs in the health centers and in the community; prepares funding proposals, may meet with state and federal officials regarding programs, and other related duties.

 

Knowledge of current Health Education methodologies; knowledge of staff recruitment methods and procedures; ability to plan, design and implement community and patient Health Education programs; ability to conduct community and patient needs assessment and to implement appropriate programs; knowledge and ability to perform staff evaluations, set goals and objectives for each staff member and the entire Health Education component; knowledge of program evaluation techniques.

 

Provides technical guidance and direction in the preparation and development of patient Health Education materials and procedures; provides day-to-day supervision to the Health Education staff; maintains an active patient education and outreach schedule, in cooperation with the appropriate staff; knowledge of budgeting theory, requisitioning and ordering supplies, materials and equipment, budget management; develops lesson plans, education materials, and approves the use of these materials for use by Clinicas; provides information releases to the various media, and other duties as maybe assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.

 

A Masters Degree in Public Health and specialization in Health Education is required.  Additionally, one-year experience in community health setting with supervisory responsibilities or two years experience in a community health setting or a public health setting required.
