Ohio State University Physicans, Inc. (OSUP) is a governed multi-specialty group comprised of over 700 physicians with the Ohio State University Medical Center.



General Description:

 

Under limited supervision, provides direction, management and leadership in the administrative, business planning, accounting, budgeting, and automation efforts of Ohio State University Physicians, Inc. (OSUP) and its LLCs.  Directs the OSUP and College of Medicine (COM) activities in a variety of special service and centralized administrative support functions.  Provides strategic consultation and represents OSUP and COM administration to management leadership as appropriate.


Work Experience Requirements:

Directs and manages the financial programs and supporting information systems of the divisions assigned, to include budgeting, receipt of revenue, expenditure funds and conservation of assets. Oversees the approval and processing of revenue, expenditures, budgets and the maintenance of accounts and ledgers, ensuring compliance with appropriate government, OSUP and COM regulations and policies, and ensuring maintenance of appropriate internal control safeguards. Establishes and maintains financial records systems in accordance with generally accepted auditing and accounting standards and principles. Oversees the integration of OSUP and COM financial information to ensure consistent reporting. Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses and information reports; presents recommendations for programmatic and fiscal changes to OSUP and COM management and leadership. Develops, implements, interprets and coordinates the application of finance, accounting, billing and audit procedures. Provides strategic consultation and representation to OSUP and COM leadership on financial issues, to include financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation and revenue and expense analysis. Provides consultative support to OSUP and OSU leadership in planning initiatives, through management and financial information analyses, reports and recommendations. Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational OSUP and COM goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Develops and directs the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs and systems, as appropriate to the objectives of OSUP and the COM. Performs other related duties as required.  This position may be assigned to special projects or accountabilities when other priorities are identified.


 

Job Qualifications:

 

Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field with 7-10 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, preferably in an academic practice environment.  CPA required.  Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.  Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.  Ability to plan, organize, implement, evaluate and modify financial programs, informational support systems and processes.   Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.  Employee development and performance management skills.  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.  Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, internal controls and reporting principles, methods, techniques and standards as applied within an academic environment.  Skill in examining and reengineering operations and procedures, formulating policies and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.  Knowledge of business practices and procedures.  Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.  Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.  Knowledge of software to quantify and illustrate complex financial reports, comparisons, impacts and/or projections.  Ability to analyze and interpret financial and systems support requirements and provide consultation and recommendations to operational management.  Knowledge of advanced cost and financial analysis principles and techniques.
