We are currently seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the Engineering function within our organization.
This is a key leadership role which will work with a team to develop strategies for the company. The role will be responsible for development and implementation of R&D programs necessary to support that strategy. In addition the role will be responsible for design integrity and quality of the Companies Products. The individual will be responsible for personnel management and provide Engineering direction and professional leadership to the assigned staff. Will supervise, coordinate, and administer all Engineering activities for the Company regarding completion of assigned tasks and objectives while ensuring the customers and FAA requirements are met. Will be required to implement standard design practices, promote education and creativity, and continuously develop competitive design strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Insure the creation of innovative design strategies and direct the development of new products and systems.
2. Responsible for the integrity and quality of all designs.
3. Trains, develops, and motivates subordinates through effective work assignments, training programs and other related activities.
4. Manage/overview the allocation and assignment of personnel to projects, prioritize the tasks as required, and define responsibilities to accomplish work activities.
5. Conduct performance and salary reviews and recommend appropriate salary adjustments, promotions and/or personal development.
6. Monitor projects continuously to initiate corrective action as required, insuring timely completion and cost effective results within planned budgets.
7. Provide point of contact for customers, contract administrators, marketing, etc. for assigned programs.
8. Responsible for the design, development, analysis and testing required for a research study, proposal, or program.
9. Define group’s head-count based on workload. also responsible for interviewing and hiring of all new Engineering personnel.
10. Actively involved with marketing to evaluate new business opportunities. Provide technical proposals and NRE estimates.
11. Insure the quality of all engineering documents (drawings, Procedures etc.) for the product line.
12. Propose Research and Development projects.
REQUIRED SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. A basic knowledge of Aircraft Systems design is required as well as experience in project/program management. Experience in defining development and certification/qualification testing is required. Familiarity with Aerospace Configuration Management and Material Review Board systems is required. Familiarity with FAA rules and regulations is desirable.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is required. Fifteen years minimum related experience in the Aerospace Industry and a minimum of 7-10 years in an Engineering Management Position is also required.
