AQUENT has a fantastic opportunity for a talented Director of Communications for a well known client located in Charleston, SC.

The Communications Director for this specialty division will lead all aspects of internal and external communications, to include marketing communications and brand building for all worldwide divisional sites and business groups. The successful candidate will be a high-energy communications professional with strategic leadership skills and tactical focus. The individual will be an active member of the leadership team, helping to drive corporate communications strategy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Communications:

Establish and execute a division-wide communications plan that delivers strategic business and organization growth plans
Develop and implement dynamic multi-channel communications to significantly enhance employee awareness and engagement of the Division's growth strategy, vision and values, and key organizational activities
Lead crisis communications for remote plant sites and lead general media relations activities, coordinating responses with corporate communications and other division staff per communications policy
Lead internal and external communications for acquisitions and integration activities
Adopt new communication tools, technologies, and strategies to advance connectivity
Deliver leadership and collaboration across division-wide safety strategy

Marketing / Brand Support:

In collaboration with line of business managers, develop a coordinated, global marketing communications program that is brand compliant, to include collateral development and advertising campaigns
Create customer communications programs that support marketing objectives, to include development of tradeshow exhibits, collateral, data sheets, and e-communications
Manage agency relationships and oversee agency work to enhance the brand development and value proposition for our customers and employees
Manage and collaborate with cross-functional resources including direct reports, business product teams, vendors, corporate communications and branding resources, Lobbyists, etc.

Community Relations / Profile Management:

Work closely with the Corporate Communications Department to provide a unified representation of the company in the Charleston and South Carolina communities
Provide Charleston-based media response, and lead efforts (virtually) across N. American locations
Interact with governmental, business, and community leaders where we conduct business worldwide to enhance the brand identity and corporate citizen standing of the Division and Company
Oversee outreach programs for other sites, local educational initiatives, dialogue with environmental groups, and contacts with government officials

Other Requirements:

Minimum of ten years professional experience in the communications field with demonstrated ability in developing and executing a high-impact, strategically positioned internal and external communications program
Proven ability to be a strategic thought partner with senior level executives, with a high level of business and organizational acumen
Strong leadership, collaboration and organization skills
Excellent writing skills with demonstrated ability to write, speak and compile tailored communication pieces for internal and public audiences; e-communications expertise a plus
Ability to interact confidently and constructively with senior management as well as with the general employee workforce
Capability to assimilate the newest developments in the communications field and be creative in applying appropriate new communications techniques, technologies, and channels
Global communications experience and cultural understanding highly desired
Technical curiosity in order to understand benefits and end applications of certain products
Strong understanding of product launch and distribution channels
Experience managing agency partners, including creative firms, PR firms, and Lobbyists
Experience in Chemical industry preferred
Bachelors degree in Communications or related field required, Masters degree preferred
20% travel required
