Who we are:
We are an expanding hospital seeking a Director of Case Management to designs, implement and continually improve clinical systems for reducing and/or controlling length of stay, costs and/or resource consumption ensuring maintenance or improvements in patient outcomes.
What you will be doing:
The Director of Case Management is responsible and accountable for clinical and financial operations of a Case Management system. The Director provides hospital-wide leadership through effective managerial and educational direction in the areas of Case Management Operations, Resource Management, timely movement of patients through a continuum, DRG Financial Analysis, Change Management, Managed Care, Guidelines/Protocols, Clinical Documentation and Systems Improvement. Independent action is required to ensure an integrated process which will coordinate health care delivery across service lines. Frequent interface with Senior Management, medical staff, quality, ancillary services and nursing in a communications and change management capacity.
Knowledge of basic computer skills, team building facilitation and hospital operations. Supervises the performance and outcomes of Case Management, evaluates impact on the organization and develops strategies to achieve short and long range goals for cost-effective, quality care. The Director of Case Management is accountable for the ongoing operations and direct impact of the Case Management system as it relates to cost and quality.
What you need for this position:
• BSN or equivalent education and experience
• Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Administration or Business Administration preferred.
• Current Nursing License in the District of Columbia
• Requires a minimum of three (3) years recent acute care experience. Five Years demonstrated Nursing Management in a fast paced, complex environment.
• Trans-disciplinary approach to clinical improvement.
• Fiscal Management of Dept. operations.
• Managed Care concepts and strategies; DRG reimbursement system.
• Capable of converting DRG and Physician Practice pattern data into information which quantifies impact on cost and quality.
• Ability to implement new programs and problem-solving mechanisms.
• Good communication/analytical/writing skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and Third Party admission and concurrent review criteria.
• Knowledge of "benchmarking" and "best practice" methodologies.
• Ability to implement and initiate workload changes and set priorities accordingly.
• Case Management/Practice Guideline concepts and application methodology; trending, analyzing and reporting variance data.
• Effective human resource and change management.
