Director of Biostatistics
We are looking for a talented director-level biostatistician to join our team at one of our following facilities: Ann Arbor, MI, Austin, TX, Basking Ridge, NJ, Cary, NC, Eden Prairie, MN, Lenexa, KS, Lexington, KY, San Diego, CA, West Chester, OH, Westerville, OH, or Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
Directs the CRO activities of the biostatistics department, including subcontractors and consultants. The director is responsible for actively seeking innovation in routine processes and recommending new technology for operational efficiencies.
Major Responsibilities
Directs the CRO activities of the biostatistics department. Manage and assign staff to project teams. Provides supervision, mentorship and training for CRO biostatistics management team. Establish high performance team culture, increase quality measures while reducing cycle time Builds effective and productive relationships across all business units. Provides written monthly summary reports of CRO departmental activities to department head. Ensures quality of work product delivered to clients. Documents quality findings in written monthly summary reports to department head. Develops and maintains departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for biostatistics. Monitors consistency of implementation at all locations through audits conducted at least annually and documents findings in written annual summary report to department head Encourages and facilitates inter-office communication and collaboration through on-site and remote interactions with biostatistics staff. Anticipate and organize responses to issues raised by sponsors or regulatory agencies in a timely and effective fashion.Effectively coordinate with international counterpart to ensure consistency of biostatistical operations.Determines the technical needs and direct the design, implementation and maintenance of biostatistics applications.Actively supports ongoing business development efforts related to biostatistics services.Participates in presentations to prospective clients for general capabilities as well as specific project proposals.Provides biostatistical consultation services to external customers.Participates in professional meetings to enhance and maintain industry recognition of i3 Statprobes biostatistics capabilities.Assesses and coordinates departmental resources, from proposal stage through project award and completion, collaborating with human resources on hiring, retention, and termination activities.Responsible for strategic planning in support of departmental and corporate goals.Participates in the development of annual operations budget.Reviews and maintains department specific budget.· M.S. degree in Statistics required, with a minimum of 15 years relevant experience, or Ph.D. in Statistics with eight years relevant experience.
· Minimum of 8 years biostatistical experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or device industries.
· At least 2 years management experience.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
· Possess a positive attitude and works well with others.
· Strong customer service experience.
· Proven ability to effectively recruit and develop staff.
· Ability to prioritize projects and manage resources.
· Thorough knowledge of applicable regulatory rules and guidelines, e.g. ICH Guidelines.
