Director, Marketing and Public Relations, Wal-Mart Foundation
The Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Corporate Giving Division (Foundation) Director, Marketing/Public Relation works with and on behalf of the Foundation President. This Director is responsible for creating, developing, implementing and managing communications for and about the Foundation's initiatives. Primary responsibilities include: working with program team leaders, team members and the Foundation¿s directors and officers to design and implement strategies that promote signature focus program team-specific objectives and helping to generate Foundation impact by publicizing grant deliverables, including dissemination of information about Foundation objectives and outcomes to policy-makers, media and other key constituents.
Strategy Development and Execution
¿ Creates a Brand image for the Wal-Mart Corporate Giving/Foundation division, working with Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications leadership and consultants,
¿ Develops and maintains all aspects of PR including: press relations, events, publications, ad placement.
Learning, Dissemination, and Audience Identification and Development
¿ Oversees design and manages sponsorship advertising.
¿ Identifies and develops speaking opportunities for Foundation leadership to maximize promotion of Corporate Giving activities.
Foundation and Public Affairs Field Contributions
¿ Provides communications support to members of the Foundation¿s senior management in preparation for public appearances; recommends and prepares support materials for meetings and media outreach opportunities. Works with the Executive Communications team when appropriate.
¿ Coordinates Public Affairs field personnel with all aspects of Foundation-related PR including: press relations, events, publications, ad placement.

Experience and Qualifications:
¿ Masters in Marketing or Marketing Research, Public Relations, or related field or bachelors degree and professional development courses
¿ 10+ years of brand strategy and marketing research experience.
¿ 10+ years of marketing management or marketing communication experience
¿ Undergraduate study in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
¿ Experience handling multiple priorities effectively; must be adept at organizing time efficiently; ability to understand and work effectively with team leaders and other staff in the Foundation's organizational structure.
¿ Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to success in this position; able to synthesize material and focus quickly on the essence of an issue; to identify major opportunities in a specific area within the overall scope of the Foundation and the Corporation.
¿ Strong presentation skills. Writing samples requested.
¿ Experience working with external press.
¿ Demonstrated creative experience. Samples requested.
¿ Personally motivated to support the Foundation's mission and goals; creative; flexible; able to work independently and in teams to think imaginatively about opportunities.
¿ Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills; collegial, energetic; able to develop productive relationships with colleagues, grantees, consultants, external funders, and others who contribute to program development and management.
¿ Demonstrated sound judgment. Ability to make decisions, justify recommendations, and be responsive and clear with proposal applicants.
¿ Ability to travel, independently, for site visits and represent the Foundation at outside meetings.
¿ Nonprofit or trade association experience is desirable.
