ABOUT CARITAS NORWOOD (CNH):

Caritas Norwood Hospital (CNH) is a licensed 264-bed community hospital serving 16 towns stretching southwest from Boston to Rhode Island. CNH joined the Caritas Christi health Care system in November 1997. In 1902, Eben Norton, MD, opened a small hospital on Washington Street with an operating room, five beds and a nurse. The modest beginning inspired local philanthropist, George Willet, and town leaders to establish Norwood Hospital as a chartered health care facility in 1919. Today, key services include obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, advanced surgery, cancer care, behavioral health, imaging, and emergency services.

 

Position Overview:

We have some very intriguing and exciting opportunities within the HIM leadership functions of our hospitals. What’s unique??…First of all we are a 6 hospital system and you have the luxury of collaborating with 5 other HIM leaders in the same role as you. This team meets a minimum on a monthly basis and compares best practices not to mention enjoying the interaction and comradery with people that do the same job as you. Secondly, Caritas is currently partnered with one of the most reputable and leading edge hospital revenue cycle consulting groups in the country. You will gain exposure and knowledge to the latest and greatest HIM best practices, expertise, systems and processes being used across the country.

 

We need your help in modernizing and automating this function as our HIM methods continue to evolve and improve leveraging such initiatives as; Migrating to voice recognition transcriptions and 100% electronic signatures, enterprise wide master patient index (including patient records, lab results, x-rays and more), EMR, Incorporate ourselves into the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC) community, better leveraging Meditech capabilities…and more.      

 

* If you have the desire and skill set our program could also use a lead person that would still carry out the HIM Director duties for the hospital you support, but also act as the HIM Director team leader to help drive initiatives globally across the system.            

 

Position Function:

Responsible for Health Information Management including; department operational excellence, assuring department delivers quality services in accordance with the medical center mission, and with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards. 

 

Qualifications:

-          We’re looking for innovative HIM leaders who can think “outside-of-the-box” and will enjoy process design and in some cases workflow and operational re-engineering. 

-          Acute hospital HIM experience required.

-          BAS in Health Information Administration or related field, or equivalent.

-          5-7+ years in Hospital HIM setting with 3-5 years of leadership experience.

-          Experience leveraging Meditech in HIM is highly desired.

-          Strong people management skills is essential with a consultative and mentoring leadership approach that fosters teamwork and collaboration to achieve successful outcomes.

-          Credentialed in good standing as RHIA and/or RHIT from American Health Information Management Association.
