Position Description
This Boeing Corporate position is primarily responsible for leading internal Government Relations strategy development and implementation plans across multiple business areas, both in IDS and BCA, for the Northwest Region State and Local Government Relations (SLGR) team and influencing the competitiveness of the Boeing enterprise in the Northwest Region. Responsibilities: Develop and Maintain strategic relationships with local and state government leaders to include mayors and governors across Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming to lead Boeing legislative priorities and actions. Policy development leadership for opportunity creation and risk mitigation through direct and indirect cost savings and/or avoidance through state and local proactive legislative actions. Foster strong relationships with SLGR executives at the Sr. VP/CEO level of other large, regional corporations and non-profit organizations to improve the business climate and influence competitiveness of the region. Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Director of Aerospace Futures Alliance and other business organizations to advance the competitiveness of Washington State. Primary interface with Boeing Washington DC operations for any federal issues that may affect the Northwest as well as other regions. Backup for the Vice President of Global Corporate Citizenship and State and Local Government Relations for the Boeing enterprise in the Northwest Region. Leading and developing the Northwest Region State and Local Government Relations team by charting the course for strategy implementation, tactics, and setting high expectations for continuous individual development to impact productivity and growth initiatives. Decisions which affect the financial, employee, and public relations posture of the company. Upholds the dynamic Boeing image and champions a team that has a high direct impact on the reputation of the company within state and local government as well as the business community. Primary focus is mitigating the financial risk of Bills and Policies being passed and influencing those that allow competitive growth in the industry. Maintains and grows major areas of the business within Corporate, BCA and IDS.
Competencies
Leadership for the Northwest Region SLGR budgets including political contributions, sponsorships, dues, travel and time. Mitigation oversight of large financial risks to the business and influence opportunities for financial gain. P&L for major programs and/or major Busniess Unit or significant impact on the enterprise-wide P&L. Decisions and actions have a significant impact across multiple programs/business units and their success/profit. Leading by example in charting the course for focused strategy implementation. Setting high expectations for and encouraging the personal and professional growth of the Northwest Region SLGR team. Providing leadership to Boeing stakeholders on legislative issues impacting the company and developing action plans to successfully meet stakeholder needs. Serves on the Board of the Association of Washington Businesses, staffs the Washington Round Table, and may participate as a Board member of a local Chamber of Commerce. Plays a key role on the BCA Global Corporate Citizenship and Government Relations Process Action Team. Maintains multiple and frequent interactions/relationships in the Executive and Legislative branches of government including committee leadership and staff directors. Has multiple and frequent interactions/relationships with BUs at VPG/President level and occasionally at SR VPGM/President/CEO level in Corporate, IDS and BCA. Coordinates with multiple organizations, committees, associations and think tanks requiring influence and/or alignment in support of Boeing enterprise-wide objectives. Incorporates views, agendas and policies of Congressional players including members, leadership and staff to achieve enterprise wide business objectives. Leading a high performing and very visible team which is responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars of Enterprise-wide direct and indirect cost savings and avoidance through state and local proactive legislative actions. Makes decisions which affect the financial, employee, and public relations posture of the company. Upholds the dynamic Boeing image and champions a team that has a high direct impact on the reputation of the company within state and local government as well as the business community. Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree required. Masters Degree a plus. Minimum of ten (10) years experience in each of the following areas: Experience leading and managing high visibility teams of employees. Experience formulating and actualizing Political and Community Relations strategies. Experience managing budgets, political contributions and sponsorships
Other Job related information
Washington State level Government Relations experience required. Experience as a Corporation Government Relations leader preferred. Reputation for integrity and high quality relationships a must.
