We have an excellent opportunity for a Director of Latino Cultural Health Initiatives to plan, direct and implement the American Heart Association's risk factor prevention program for the Latin/Hispanic audiences in the assigned territory. This new position is based in our Sacramento office. In this role, the Director: - Plans and develops implementation strategy for the Conozca Su Corazón educational risk prevention program in the assigned territory in conjunction with Vice-President of Cultural Health Initiatives. - Maximizes relationships with County public health organizations and Community Based Organizations (CBO) to enhance American Heart Association recognition and programming goals and objectives. Recruits, engages, and develops relationships with local volunteers, community leaders and lay persons in order to provide effective public education and community outreach efforts. - Staffs the appropriate committees and subcommittees concerned with Latino community outreach and education to assure completion of programmed plans and activities related to Conozca Su Corazón. Manages the planning, marketing, implementation and evaluation of Latino/ Conozca Su Corazón community based programs. - Facilitates and administers assigned programs with volunteer committees, area Executive Director and division volunteers. This includes planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Latino Cultural Health Initiatives programs. Qualified candidates are highly motivated to further the mission of the American Heart Association and possess the following skills, education and experience: - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in health education, education, health administration, business or related discipline and three plus years of experience in managing community health promotion, educational programs or related field. - Competency in oral and written communication in both, English and Spanish languages. - Ability, experience, and understanding of volunteer recruitment, training and management with an emphasis on community organization and grassroots mobilization. - Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship-building effectiveness in one-on-one and group settings across all levels of corporate and community leaders, volunteers and staff. - Ability to work professionally in corporate and non-profit environments and assume responsibility for guiding educational/marketing projects and programs from inception through completion. - Knowledge of the principles and practices of strategic planning, budgeting, negotiation, team-building and managing work. - Ability to demonstrate effective organizational skills and the ability to plan and act independently on projects with minimal supervision. - Ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects under time pressure and changing environment. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and, as needed, outside standard business hours. - Ability to travel in the geographical area served, and to travel on overnight business trips as needed.
