JOB PURPOSE:

 

The Director of Corporate Accounting is responsible for supervising and directing the operations of the corporate accounting function.

 

 

 

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Directs the closing of the books, consolidation, various analyses and ensures compliance with annual regulatory reporting requirements.  Responsible for maintaining the books and records of Vectren and its subsidiaries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the Uniform System of Accounts (USoA), ensuring adequacy of internal controls (SO 404) and preparing accurate financial information.  Provides financial expertise in support of the external audit process.  Supervises and provides direction for the corporate accounting staff.  Establishes departmental goals and objectives; develops plans to meet established goals and manages employees to ensure such goals are achieved.  Recruits, trains and counsels department staff.  Develops work standards and a system of review to ensure compliance. Keeps abreast of current developments in accounting standards to maintain competence and proficiency in the accounting function. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 EducationBachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.  CPA required.    Experience

Minimum of 10+ years of utility experience preferred.  Demonstrated technical expertise in interpreting and applying generally accepted accounting principles as well as regulatory accounting concepts.

 

 

Skills competencies

Ability to read, analyze and interpret business information, technical procedures and government regulations.  Demonstrated ability to present information both in writing and orally.  Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
