Description: oLead complex management consulting projects with minimal oversight.
oMentor others in key technology areas.
oCoach and train team members in organizational, business, behavioral, and technical skills.
oGood judgment on when and how to revise scope of work (work plans, deliverables and team resources) based on complex client situations.
oUnderstand and navigate complex government, procurement, contract and approval processes.
oEnsure effective and creative idea generation amongst the project team.
oGain team members' input to and sets the project team's goals.
oPlan and facilitate significant client meetings.
oDrive the clients thinking in many cases.
oMaintain significant contact with key client executives and management (Agency Directors, CIOs, and elected officials).
Business Development Responsibilities
oLead sales efforts from a thought leadership/subject matter expertise perspective in a given offering.
oContribute to account plan development.
oSupport the management of designated client accounts.
oProactively follow up on all assigned leads.
oDevelop compelling, client-centric proposals.
oLeverage knowledge of government budget and procurement cycles to optimize sales efforts.
oProactively seek out ways to collaborate with leaders from all parts of Gartner to identify target markets and to develop pursuit strategies.
oAbility to support sales partners in the successful close and negotiation of complex deals.
oDevelop opportunity plans and may present to deal review board. Qualifications: oExtensive management consulting and project management experience with specific focus on information technology
o8+ years of "hands on" management consulting experience in conducting strategy level consulting projects with significant experience in the public sector.
oGraduate level degree, e.g., MBA, MS in information systems/computer science, or equivalent work experience.
oKnowledge of a broad range of information technologies.
oExcellent understanding of IT and its business implications.
oProgram and project management experience.
oExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
oExcellent track record in project managing large strategy level consulting engagements.
oExperience in one or more of the following areas:
oIT management - experience in aligning IT and business strategy, developing IT organization structures & governance processes, IT investment management, IT portfolio management, etc
oIT process management - knowledge of IT operations management, IT services management and related standards such as ITIL and CoBIT (ITIL certification desired)
oERP - experience in developing ERP business cases, ERP and/or SI vendor selection and/or independent project oversight/IV&V for large system implementation projects.
oProcurement of IT services - experience in developing sourcing strategy, vendor selection, assisting clients in constructing and negotiating large outsourcing deals, reviewing existing outsourcing relationships and/or assisting the client in improving overall deal management/governance.
oData Center (BC/DR, Consolidation) - experience in data center issues, including disaster recovery, server consolidation, data center consolidation, mainframes, etc.
oInfrastructure Architecture - knowledge of technical infrastructures (including networks, servers, storage) and experience in architecture assessments and planning.
oApplications Architecture - knowledge of application integration methodologies, tools, and approaches.
oSoftware Engineering - knowledge of the software development life-cycle and processes, including standards like CMMI
oLarge government markets (city/state/federal) and/or government programs (healthcare, social services, etc.)
