Salem Hospital is a regional medical center offering top medical services and technology to people in and around Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Established in 1896, Salem Hospital is located in the heart of downtown Salem, Oregon. Their large, expanding campus allows Salem Hospital to offer a wide range of the latest medical technologies and services. Salem is one of the largest of Oregon's 57 acute care hospitals. It is a not-for-profit hospital, licensed for 454 acute care beds, and is guided by a 15-member volunteer Board of Trustees. The hospital is the city's largest private employer, with approximately 3,500 full and part-time employees. There are 465 physicians on staff, representing 46 different specialties. More than 275 volunteers provide non-medical support for the hospital.
Salem Hospital is seeking a dynamic, experienced, team-oriented and quality focused leader to assume the role of Director of Salem Cancer Service Line. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations/Chief Nursing Officer, and will serve as a member of the Leadership team. The new Director will have one direct report and will play a key role in helping to achieve the highest quality healthcare in a clinically and fiscally accountable manner. The direct report is the Salem Cancer Institute Manager.
The Salem Cancer Service Line Director will be responsible for the overall growth and performance of the cancer service line. The Director will work closely with physicians and other cancer care professionals to enhance service delivery to patients in the continuum of care under the affiliation umbrella of the Salem Cancer Institute (SCI). The Director is responsible to oversee the development, growth and integration of services that bring the various multidisciplinary specialties and departments into an effective operational and care continuum that matches the episode of care experienced by the patient. The Director will serve as an internal consultant to assess and develop related programs and formal affiliations that keep SCI positioned in the forefront of care delivery in a financially responsible manner.
The Director will have overall responsibility for the Cancer Service Line budget, with a total of $2.0 million dollars in net operating budget with 32 FTE.
Qualifications:
A Masters degree or equivalent with appropriate experience in health services development and management for at least seven years. Clinical expertise in cancer services and other clinical areas related to cancer services. Program assessment and marketing/business development skills. Process improvement knowledge. Knowledge of hospital and physician practice operations. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a wide range of audiences.
