Interplastic Corporation is a leading manufacturer and national supplier of polyester, vinyl ester, gel coat resins and SMC.  Our continued growth and success has created an immediate need for an experienced SENIOR DEVELOPMENT CHEMIST for our

Molding Products Division located in South Bend, Indiana.

 

Major Areas of Accountability:

Defining and providing solutions to technical problems in a laboratory environmentPerforming general laboratory functions including:Thickening studiesBMC studiesMechanical and physical property testing

·        Incorporating changes to the formulations – ultimately improving manufacturability

·        Conducting studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction through the application of Lean principles

·        Solving routine molding problems of limited scope and complexity

·        Performing assignments requiring use and application of standard engineering economics and product development principles and techniques

·        Analyzing and interpreting formulation requirements

·        Defining data to the extent necessary to proactively apply chemical economic principles

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a science field or six years related experience.Recognize that individual goals contribute towards accomplishing team outcomesPosses the ability to learn and incorporate statistical studiesMaintain proper customer procedures when interacting with customers.Demonstrate the ability to follow through with work assignments and support management’s policies and proceduresMust be able to provide the status of work assignments at any time and quickly produce any documentation or information that is neededPossess the ability to use various software packages to maintain and update documents and records
