CHENEGA INTEGRATED SYSTEMS, LLC JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Detention Officer, Supervisor Job Title: Safety Officer, Lead Work Location: DHS, ICE - El Paso, TX Reports To: Program Manager FLSA Status: SCA Regular Full-time Non-Exempt Prepared Date: April 29, 2008 Summary Responsible for the security and control of detainees in custody regardless of the detainee population. Works in secured environment, and shall have at least one year of general experience as a detention officer and two years of experience in field supervision (civilian community law enforcement, commercial or industrial guard service or security service supervisory positions). Essential Duties and Responsibilities All Detention Officers who work under this contract shall pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician. Must maintain current/physical residency in the continental United States. • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. • The ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public. • Capable of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules and regulations. • Possess good judgment, courage, and alertness and have an even temperament. • Maintain self-control during situations that involve mental stress, fires, explosions, civil disturbances and building evacuations. • Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance. • Performs other duties as assigned. • May be required to work irregular shifts (days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays). Supervisory Responsibilities: The Detention Officer Supervisor shall supervise the Detention Officer staff. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All personnel must be a United States citizen and have a social security card approved by the Social Security Administration and/or a person who is lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence, and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years, possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), and have no criminal record. Education and/or Experience • Minimum high school diploma or GED. • At least a minimum of 1 year experience as a Detention/Correction Officer • Two years of successful experience in Civilian Law Enforcement or Security Guard supervisory positions. • Or, completion of a career development program that is work related experience. • Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid driver's license. Must be able to withstand temperature extremes encountered during performance of duties Work Environment Work is performed both inside and outside but primarily in buildings/secured yards, that are unheated, with concrete floors. Incumbent is subject to extreme caution due to the nature of items involved and must at all times adhere to fire, safety, and security regulations within assigned areas. Work may requires wearing protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, face shields, and aprons. May be required to work a rotating or non-rotating shift as necessitated by workload and may be required to work weekends in support of mission requirements.
