Description:
The primary responsibility of the Engineer, Design is to develop new and up-grade designs of existing products for quality improvements, cost reduction and broaden product applications. Secondary responsibility is to review and assess customer requirements and orders so to select or design products to meet specifications.
AUTHORITY
The Engineer, Design has no direct reports.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Engineer, Design reports directly to the Manager, Package Engineering or Manager, Global Engineering, and may or may not have multiple indirect reporting relationships.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Required: BS in Engineering or equivalent 4 year degree.
Experience
Required: Minimum 3 years blower design experience.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access); strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks; good oral and written communication skills; strong internet research skills; excellent spelling and grammar; detail oriented with ability to accurately proof own work; excellent phone etiquette; strong interpersonal skills; customer service oriented; ability to work with minimal or no supervision; ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
Work Time:
Time in excess of the normal standard workweek may be required, including weekends and holidays, as dictated by business need.
Travel:
Estimated travel required for this position is approximately 20% annually.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans, implements, and controls assigned development projects, documents project results and issues technical reports.
Coordinates the efforts of other Division departments and/or outside vendors to achieve completion of projects successfully, meeting product performance, cost, and schedule objectives.
Recommends product and procedure improvements for current products and makes comparable recommendations for potential new products.
Maintains stat-of-the art in Dresser product designs and design tools.
Performs finite element analysis, using PC and state-of-the art design tools.
Prepares, maintains, and adheres to Engineering specifications, design practices, and procedures.
Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Suppliers as part of product development process.
