Due to a continuing influx of business at this Alabama location for an international automotive component supplier, my Client Company has an immediate opening for a part-time Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a state-of-the-art facility supplying electronic sensors and controls to automotive suppliers and OEMs.

 

Utilizing Pro/E Wildfire, the Mechanical Design Engineer designs and develops automotive electronic sensors taking into account strength, manufacturability, durability, safety and serviceability.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Design and develop electronic sensors to meet customer specificationsDevelop 3D product models using Pro/E Perform basic design and structural thermal analysis of product elements and components to ensure that designs meet application criteria for static loading, dynamic loading and service life using Pro/E Mechanica or any related CAD packagesDesign and detail 2D assembly, component drawings and bill-of-Material (BOM)Improve manufacturability of products using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and Tolerance Stack-up analysisUploading/Transmit Pro/E drawings and models into Customers’ CAD Product Data Management (PDM) systemsUse Pro/INTRALINK for CAD data managementTop-down assembly design using Pro/E Advanced Assembly Extension (AAX)Participate in product quality improvement teams to continuously improve durability & reliability of products

REQUIREMENTS

BS Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplineTwo plus years of related work experienceWorking knowledge of solid model software, preferably Pro/E WildfireWorking knowledge of FEA and GD&T TolerancingKnowledge of drawing release process and change documentation process (ECN)Working knowledge ASME standards and TS-16949Experience with high volume electronics, plastics, and metal manufacturing processesFamiliar with Design FMEA, APQP, SPC, PPAPFamiliar with Global 8-D process, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing etc.

 

COMPENSATION: Negotiable
