Position Description:

Aesculap, Inc., has an excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer within our R&D Group. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with Surgeon and Surgeon teams, marketing and production staff to design a product from the initial idea until it can be launched to the Market. Manage development project through research, strategic planning and implementation. SPECIFIC DUTIES: • Work directly with Surgeon or Surgeon team to develop a product • Responsible for Project Management • Work with Marketing Staff, production staff, engineering and R & D Director to design product from conception to finished product • Perform calculations, stress analysis • Create 3D models in CATIA V5 • Transfer Models to 2D drawing • Dimension, tolerance and complete drawing to standards • Perform target cost and risk (FMEA) analyses • Organize and lead meetings to plan and track project progress • Work to quality system regulation design control documents • Prepare patent and literature searches. JOB LEVEL: Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways, complete projects as assigned, and achieve goals. EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Masters degree in engineering or bioengineering preferred. • General CAD experience is essential with a minimum of 2 years industrial experience preferred • CATIA V5 preferred SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: * Must be able to travel by air and car, and work occasional weekends. * Requires excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. * Computer skills in Windows, Lotus, e-mail, word processing. • Knowledge of German would be seen as an advantage. SUPERVISION: Training will be provided. General instructions and coaching will be provided on new assignments. EQUIPMENT USED IN POSITION: Telephone, personal computer (including CAD), space mouse, laser printer, calculator, fax machine, copy machine, MS Office Tools for Windows, e-mail. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Light Work- position involves sitting, standing and or walking.
