FUNCTION OF THE JOB

Puts scientific knowledge in the areas of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, and/or chemistry into practical use in the design of products.  This includes research and development, component selection, testing, analysis, construction, and production to create liquid handling and fluid purification systems.

The company would like someone to have pump and filtration experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Assist Plant Manager, Product Specialists and Customer Satisfaction Correspondents to solve customer's technical problems by creating new or improved product systems.

2.  Act as technical resource to coordinate and assess applications for systems jobs.  Compare customer application information, customer’s order, quotation, and order write-up to evaluate correctness of component selection. Perform final technical review on all process job product quotations.  Check component sizing selections and materials of construction, and review cost and pricing worksheet for accuracy and completeness.

3.  Conduct research and development to test and analyze suitability of product options.

 

4. Create detail, layout, assembly, electrical and other required drawings and back-up documents to readily meet production and customer needs.  

5. Assist Plant Manager in overseeing, tracking, and coordinating all data and paperwork to ensure technical correctness of job.

6. Provide technical support to Customer Satisfaction Correspondents and/or Product Specialists in order to respond to customer telephone calls and written correspondence concerning previously sold and in-process system information and other specialty products as deemed necessary by Plant Manager.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Engineering with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years technical experience.  Requires working knowledge of machines, tools and computer drafting methods and procedures.  Also requires knowledge of electrical and hydraulic controls; wiring codes; and safety and regulatory testing requirements as specified by UL, OSHA, FDA, EPA, and other agencies; chemical and material compatibility; and manufacturing methods and processes.  Must have good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present and discuss technical engineering data. Must also possess the interpersonal skills necessary to interface with managers and other employees to complete tasks.  Must have the ability to speak, write, and comprehend written and verbal instruction in English.  Additional skills to include the use, application, and care of an AUTOCAD system as well as skill with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).  A valid Illinois driver's license is required.
