The Dean/CEO will work to develop, implement, and administer all aspects of the college program in a cost-effective manner, and to coordinate all aspects of the intercollegiate program with Mount Mary College.
The primary responsibilities of the Dean of the College of Nursing are Administration, Strategic Planning, Liaison, Personnel Management, and Professional Development.
Administration
* Develops, with the Senior Staff, and implements, administrative policies
and activities
* Assumes responsibility for overall coordination and evaluation of educational
program in cooperation with faculty and faculty committees from Columbia and Mount Mary Colleges
* Oversees the preparation and administration of the budget for the College
* Implements all current legal, regulatory, and accreditation policies and guidelines (North Central Association, National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, etc.) that impact the College
Strategic Planning
* Chairs the Strategic Planning Committee
* Responsible for development and implemention of the Strategic Plan for the
College
* Coordinates planning with College Board of Trustees, Mount Mary
College and CSM.
Liaison
* Represents the College to the external and internal communities
* Serves on the Coordinating Committee for the Intercollegiate Program
* Serves on the Operations Council of CSM
Personnel Management
* Provides management and evaluation of Senior Staff, Faculty,
and Administrative Assistant to the Dean/CEO
* Recruits, hires, and takes personnel actions for all employees that report to
the Dean
Professional Development
* Serves as a role model, displaying professional work standards
* Demonstrates an understanding of current trends in higher education, nursing
education, and academic administration
* Displays a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in continuing education
* Displays a commitment to the profession of nursing through membership and
active participation in professional groups
* Displays a commitment to the College vision, goals, and principles of
continuous improvement
Qualifications include:
Earned doctorate in nursing or related field; master’s degree in nursing
Licensure as an RN in the State of Wisconsin
Five year’s experience in baccalaureate or higher degree nursing program
Record of proven leadership, management, and organizational skills in higher education/nursing education programs
Effective communications skills, both verbal and written
