Schedules receiving of materials to ensure the smooth flow of merchandise. Coordinates and manages the receipt of merchandise including unloading and checking. Monitors loads to ensure merchandise is unloaded according to priority designations and to ensure merchandise is delivered to stores in a timely and efficient manner. 2. Establishes and monitors the daily receiving schedule and priorities; ensures priorities are adhered to and that resources are utilized appropriately in order to control costs. 3. Supervises daily activities of clerical and warehouse staff and is held accountable for their performance. Allocates work, monitors productivity, and procures resources to facilitate staff performance, ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, housekeeping, merchandise damage minimization and safety. 4. Hires, orients, trains, evaluates, recommends pay increases and develops associates. In conjunction with Operations Manager, carries out disciplinary actions or recommends termination of employment as appropriate. 5. Coordinates with inbound carriers to ensure smooth flow of merchandise into the distribution center. Monitors status of merchandise and informs vendors and carriers of that status. Respond to inquires regarding freight movement from transportation personnel to ensure smooth merchandise flow. 6. Determines appropriate procedures for the receiving and checking of merchandise. Implements procedures and monitors adherence to, efficiency and cost effectiveness of the procedures. Recommends changes, revisions, additions or deletions as necessary. 7. Shares and provides appropriate information and anticipates information needs of all distribution center associates in accordance with company quality and communication time schedule requirements.
Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Logistics preferred. 3. Minimum of five (5) years of distribution center management, operations experience or equivalent. 4. Knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures. 5. Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial and communications skills. 6. Good analytical ability to gather and interpret information, and develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
