Description: The Data Warehouse Architect is primarily responsible for the architecture, development and support of the Financial Data Warehouse/BI platform and applications. This person should be able to develop a model for the logical and physical view of the multiple warehouses developed to support the Finance Departments, develop standards, and provide best practices for DW data structures to other members of the Data Warehouse/BI team. This person will also be responsible for defining business data requirements and translating those data requirements into logical and physical database models. The design of the databases models will include analytical data warehouses and specific data marts. The Data Warehouse Architect will be an integral part of all projects where the structure and design of the warehouse is being modified or expanded.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:
1. Design, build and deploy data models for Enterprise Data Warehouse and business specific Data marts.
2. Perform data analysis, create ETL jobs, identify data mapping requirements, build logical data model & physical data model.
3. Create and maintain the DW logical data model for multiple warehouses.
4. Update DW conceptual and physical model as needed (additional subject areas / entities / attributes)
5. Participate in design, source-to-target mapping, meta data creation and review, and testing
6. Participate in and/or lead data warehouse related projects
7. Set up and oversee data standards group responsible for data accuracy, data conformity, and consistent data definitions.
8. Assist with identification and definition of business requirements as related to design
9. Facilitate analysis and ensure common understanding of data terminology, relationships, hierarchies, etc.
10. Identify, define and document metadata. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree
7-10 years experience with various database design, data marts, data warehouse solutions and ETL tools (Data Stage, DTS, SSIS, Informatica a plus)
SQL Server or Oracle database experience required.
Experience with PeopleSoft EPM preferred.
Experience with Cognos BI helpful.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required
Hands on, in depth experience and expertise with data warehouse & data mart development.
Extensive experience in administering Oracle/SQL Server environments is necessary
Knowledge of change management/version management best practices is required.
Performance tuning experience in Oracle/SQL Server data warehousing environments
Strong mentoring and collaboration skills
Strong communication skills
