Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Security Analyst / Engineer for a 6 month to longer contract. The company is located conveniently off I5 and I84 in NE Portland. This major company offers a fantastic work environment which has a professional work ethic, business casual attire and a great environment. The Senior Security Analyst / Engineer will be responsible to assure that the intrusion detection system (IDS) is operational and functioning as intended to meet stringent Federal requirements. This individual is responsible for documenting the intrusion detection system in accordance to these regulatory requirements and provide daily maintenance, support and monitoring of the intrusion detection system. Functional Roles: Provide on-going monitoring and analysis of the IDS, threat management duties, on-going vulnerability management duties, wireless scanning functions and dial-up vulnerability management. Configuring and managing a SNORT based IDS environment Designing and implementing appropriate alerting mechanisms Monitoring and analyzing alerts Perform vulnerability assessments using various security tools Other skills include: Well developed communications skills, decision making methodologies, risk evaluation methodologies and ability to quickly assess a situation based upon limited input. Effective interpersonal skills, ability to be assertive, influential, persuasive, and can efficiently resolve problems. Ability to identify, isolate and communicate problems/issues from and to all levels of management. Ability to manage multiple projects, maintain current status and directions needed. Qualifications :
Required skills include 5+ years of IT experience; 1+ year of practical information security experience 3+ years IDS management Practical knowledge of PERL is required Significant UNIX/LINUX knowledge Desired skills include BS / BA College Degree, or equivalent work experience SNORT certified a plus
