This is an unique opportunity for an individual to part a group that is establishing a data coordinating center in Jackson, Mississippi.  They are developing a Data and Technology Coordinating Center (DTCC) for the Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Translational Research Network (RTRN). In collaboration with the RCMI Clinical Research Centers, the DTCC will develop a secure web-based coordinated clinical data management system for the collection, storage and analysis of data from multiple clinical research centers.

The Senior Clinical Data Manager will report directly to the Program Director and will provide leadership on best practices for data processes.  The Senior Clinical Data Manager is an experienced manager coordinating multiple projects, facilitating infrastructure initiatives and participating in business development activities. Individuals are expected to independently manage projects, perform technical tasks for creating and maintaining a database and train other staff as needed. Clinical background referred.
Duties included but not limited to:
· Oversee the design management and documentation of projects.
· Manage corrective action plans from external audits.
· Lead internal infrastructure initiatives.
· Consult with external and internal parties to recommend the optimal data collection strategies for trials.
· Research new therapeutic areas to develop working knowledge of healthcare and research data collected.
· Lead the development and maintenance of systems used to support project infrastructure.
· Design work process and system needs based on sponsor requirements.
· Work out and designs coding processes.
· Work with IT to perform User Acceptance Testing on new software.
· Independently develop and coordinate aspects of e-source/electronic data transmissions.
· Design documentation for data transfers in and out of the DTCC.  
· Actively works to maintain skills necessary to keep up with industry needs.
· Serve as a mentor to other data managers by assisting with selecting and scheduling appropriate training, assignment of trials and trial responsibilities.
· Develop and implement training with appropriate learning objectives and Adult Learning Principles.
· Manage the process that data is electronically transferred from reference laboratories and clinical research centers
· Be responsible for FTPs, imports, and processing data from remote laboratories
· Log in receipt of data, check files for reporting transmission errors and reconcile with originators
· Collaborate and communicate across functional groups
· Manage Electronic and paper data processes
· Develop and maintain user rights and roles for EDC systems
· Train sites, monitors and staff on EDC systems
· Provide Helpdesk support for navigation and protocol questions
· Respond to correspondence regarding problem samples, provide extensive phone contact with site, respond to inquiries regarding results, subject status reports, timing of tests/windows as per protocols, requests for materials, diagnosis determinations, and other protocol questions
· Act as the first point of contact with sites with regards to study forms and data flow
· Maintain professional correspondence with various physicians (related to referral and recruitment) and study review committees (e.g., center monitoring, study or protocol review, minority recruitment committee, safety monitoring, eligibility committee, etc.)
· Design protocols and training programs (in conjunction with a data manager specialist) for data management procedures
· Establish the data management process to ensure ease of data processing from sites once the projects have begun collecting data
· Other duties as assigned
Candidates will have 5+ years experience in data management, developing procedures and protocols in data collection, developing data management plans and designing training programs on data management. Oracle Clinical or EDC experience recommended.  A Masters degree in computer science, information technology or related field desired.
