Pilgrim’s Pride is seeking a Data Base Architect / Developer for our Data Center located in Rockwall, TX. Must be able to deliver technology solutions to meet business objectives. This position will be responsible for analyzing, designing and configuring solutions through our Enterprise Data Warehouse. In addition to development, this individual must be able to clearly communicate all planning, analysis and design tasks related to projects.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Database Architect / Developer is to strategically design and implement data warehouses, data marts, and data stores in order to provide Enterprise Reporting for the corporation. Ensures high levels of data availability, data integrity and data confidentiality exist in each solution. This individual is also responsible for defining data standards and models for database architectures. The Database Architect and Developer will also assist in the delivery of key reporting requirements for the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for databases in conjunction with data users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
- Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Work with end users to identify, create, and deliver data according to requirements.
- Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing data stores.
- Design and manage database improvement and growth projects.
- Plan and implement capacity and resource expansion to ensure database scalability.
- Identify inefficiencies and gaps in current databases and leverage solutions.
- Identify data discrepancies and data quality issues, and work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
- Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issues.
- Install and configure relevant components to ensure database access.
- Execute database configuration and performance tuning.
Monitor system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets.
- Perform cost estimates for data migration between development, test, and production systems, and plan and coordinate these migrations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data systems.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Evaluate, recommend, and select database components, including hardware, database management systems, ETL (extract, transform, load) software, data mining tools, and meta data management tools.
- Mentor and/or provide leadership to junior members of the team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 7 years experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA supporting a production environment.
- Significant experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting multi-terabyte data warehouses.
- Significant experience with Data Modeling and Data Modeling tools.
- Significant understanding of data normalization and optimization.
- Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Hands-on experience with data architecting, data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
- Significant experience with ETL tools.
- Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards and products as required.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Data warehouse experience. Including OLAP / MS Analysis Services.
- Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA).

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or computer technology) or related experience.
