Description:
Volt Technical Resources is currently searching for a avid Performance Engineer who desires more from their career!! The newest addition to our team will be responsible for the following: Develop Cummins QSB/C/L series Mid-Range engines to meet the 2010 Tier 4 off-highway emissions legislation, while providing the customer with the best-in-class performance, fuel economy, drivability, power and sociability. Use prescribed technical engineering methods to develop these performance and emission recipes on current and advanced engines. Make sound decisions in pushing the mechanical stress and design limits of the engine components to achieve best performance. Provide suggestions to the suppliers to make design changes based on the stress data and design issues. Design review performance status vs. profile with key customers. Release hardware and software to producing plants. Analyze and correlate data, recognizing discrepancies in the results. Document results in technical reports. Use data to derive solutions or conclusion to discrepancies. Develop test methods and improve existing test methods. Test competitive engines. Troubleshoot performance problems. TRAVEL REQUIRED (%): Less than 5%

Requirements:
SKILLS - FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL: Strong engineering background with emphasis in Thermal Sciences. Computer skills, including PC and Unix. Skilled in use of GT Power, HSDA/Cell, Assett and Scope. Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Matlab. Understanding of complex performance and emissions tradeoffs. SKILLS - QUALITY/IMPROVEMENT: Strong process development skills and commitment to using and improving existing processes. Find better ways of acquiring and analyzing test data. Couple experimental results with analysis, focus on analysis led design approach. Structured problem solving experience. Commitment to driving quality into all aspects of work, CPE and other. Embrace Six Sigma techniques/tools. SKILLS - TEAMWORK: Ability to work with others with diverse background and personalities in a team environment. Willing / able to speak out and provide direction that the team needs. Capable of leading / guiding small development teams. SKILLS - LEADERSHIP: Ability to mentor others and to seek out mentors to address specific gaps. Responsible for completing complex tasks.
