ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Acquires course textbook orders from faculty and processes those orders.
- Orders course materials (including art supplies) from and solves problems with publishers, distributors, and wholesalers.
- Returns materials as necessary.
- Manages text department inventory using computerized system.
- Ensures accurate processing of purchase orders and invoices.
- Oversees the bookstore’s buyback program.
- Works with faculty members or departmental assistants to determine copyright needs for classes. Sends permission request to copyright services, publisher or other rights-holder.
- Keeps log of permission requests and notifies professors regarding the status of requests.
- Prepares original materials for copying and assembles prices and shelve materials. Verifies packet sales, and number of permissions used, and pays appropriate rights-holder.
- Maintains filing system for master documents, and manages inventory of course packets.
- Manages art supplies inventory and merchandising processes.
- Must support and contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity at Colorado College and work effectively with the many constituencies on campus.
- Assists in promoting a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following College procedures; requesting and using appropriate protective equipment; and participating in appropriate safety training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate plus specialized training or equivalent work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two years related experience.
- Finger and wrist dexterity and hand/eye coordination to perform keyboard functions. Considerable sitting, occasional stooping, reaching, bending and standing, light physical effort (lifting up to 10 pounds). Good vision and hearing.
SKILLS:
- Type 40 wpm accurately. Software operations to include book ordering software preferred. Good judgment, organizational and customer service skills. Must be detail oriented. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar and business math. Ability to think critically, solve problems and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as personal computer, laser printer, typewriter, copy machine, telephone, calculator, fax machine, microfiche, etc.
