POSITION SUMMARY:  This position’s primary focus is to provide critical legal guidance and advice regarding insurance regulatory compliance on a national basis. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :  Provide legal guidance and advice on insurance regulatory matters related to compliance with state insurance and health departments’ filings for insurance and managed care companies, including financial and holding company filings.  Detailed knowledge and understanding of state insurance holding company laws, filings and compliance related thereto is a requirement.  Knowledge of state insurance company licensure laws and experience interacting with state regulators is required.

•Drafts documents, agreements, contracts and other materials requiring specific legal expertise.

• Assists management in developing operational strategies and solutions relating to corporate policy.

• Reviews and analyzes enacted and proposed state and federal laws and regulations that affect Bravo, and advises of the implications of such laws, regulations and draft legislation.

EDUCATION:  Strong academic background and Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.

EXPERIENCE:  Five plus years counseling clients on compliance with state insurance and health laws related to health insurance and managed care companies, and in particular compliance with state holding company filing and licensure requirements, either in-house or in a law firm setting.  Direct regulatory experience with a state insurance department a plus.  Attorney should have strong communication skills and be comfortable working directly with business departments.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:  License to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or ability to obtain a Limited In-House Corporate Counsel License in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
