The GLG Accounting & Financial Analysis (AFA) Practice provides customized access to a trusted global network of approximately 10,000 finance, accounting, and tax professionals across all industries, geographies, and specializations. AFA Council Members include CFOs, former top regulatory body officials, partners from the world’s leading accounting firms, academics, forensic accountants, and other financial executives. By facilitating consultations between our clients and these experts, we enable our clients to better understand accounting & financial issues and, in turn, to make more informed investment & business decisions.
Council Managers develop, manage and leverage the GLG Councils. The Council Manager role is an exciting position in a fast-growing global firm with opportunities to work closely with business and investment leaders that are driving industry throughout the world, and to help design technological knowledge management platforms.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
AFA’s global Council Management team is responsible for the overall development, service, and marketing of the GLG AFA Council. The Council Manager (Austin) will be a central member of the team. He or she will recruit, manage and deploy experts in the GLG AFA Council. He or she will work closely with AFA’s Council Management Team in Austin, and our Analysts in Delhi, London and Shanghai, and will interact with client-facing Research Managers in New York, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, London and Hong Kong.
· Recruit new Council Members into the Council:
o Interact with GLG Research Managers to gauge client research needs.
o Identify experts (CFOs, former top regulatory body officials, partners from the world’s leading accounting firms, academics, forensic accountants, and other financial executives) with pertinent insights for Gerson Lehrman Group’s clients.
o Develop personal relationships with key industry executives, influencers and thought leaders, while engaging them in productive research activities.
o Develop the GLG Councils through telephone, email and marketing campaigns.
o Manage partnerships with global associations and professional-service firms.
· Manage and organize the global membership of the Council, using Gerson Lehrman Group’s proprietary technology:
o Maintain a deep understanding of the AFA practice to leverage the GLG Councils effectively
o Apply knowledge of the AFA practice, emerging trends and client activity, identify strategic population needs for clients
o Educate internal staff about AFA trends
o Work closely with Council Management teams and Research Management teams globally to facilitate ongoing development and effective deployment of the Council.
· Contribute to the development and continued evolution of GLG’s AFA Council’s interactive product portfolio, including:
o Regular small-group meetings between GLG clients and Council Members
o Education Seminars (www.glginstitute.com)
o Domestic and international research trips to relevant regions
o Proprietary Surveys
o GLG News (www.glgnews.com)
o Phone Consultations
Candidate profile:
Preliminary criteria for the position include:
· Undergraduate degree from top-tier school plus three to five years of professional work experience.
· Demonstrated interest in and exposure to accounting & financial issues.
· Outstanding writing, communication, and presentation abilities.
· Superior organizational and people skills.
· Ability to work in a rigorous, fast-moving work environment.
Favored applicants will have:
· Knowledge of a second language (Spanish is especially relevant).
· Experience with or knowledge of the financial services and/or financial research industry.

Evaluation, Compensation and Benefits:
Following is an initial estimate of compensation and benefits for this position. The final compensation structure depends on many factors and these numbers are subject to change.
Salary: Competitive base salary plus year-end performance-based discretionary bonus

Vacation: 15 days per year plus New York Stock Exchange holidays
