Highfield Manufacturing manufactures a diverse line of products for the utility industry, the oil heat trade, and centrifugal compressor manufacturer. We are currently looking for a Cost Accountant to join our team.

The position of Cost Accountant is responsible for conducting important phases of the company’s accounting, working the following areas: Payroll analysis/process, cost accounting and general ledger functions along with month-end closing and reporting. This includes using discretion and independent judgment in reconciling accounts. Responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. This position works with minimal supervision and reports to the Controller.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Focus on developing standard cost for material, labor and overhead. Verify actual vs. standard and research variances if any. Maintaining processes and procedures that ensure accurate inventory accounting. Including verification of Cycle & Physical inventories;
• Responsible for month-end closing; journal entries; trial balance and financial reports. Performs account reconciliations as needed;
• Responsible for accounting accuracy and sufficiency of all accrued benefits. Prepare annual budget for payroll taxes and benefits, Perform fringe benefit cost analysis;
• Responsible for accounts payable reporting. Goal of providing better information in a quicker and more accurate timeframe;
• Performs miscellaneous accounting duties as requested, working as a team player with manufacturing and Accounting Department as well as with employees in other departments.
Job Requirements:
This position requires a four-year accounting or finance degree. Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and spreadsheet software, good communication and writing skills. Experience with SYSPRO software a plus.
