We are seeking a Corporate Security Manager who is responsible for all aspects of Gen-Probe’s facility security program development and management. This includes, but is not limited to, access control and intrusion detection, contract security force management, internal investigations, executive protection, workplace violence, crisis response and disaster recovery.

 

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

*Using industry standards and inputs from other departments, develops, implements, and manages company security programs to guard against unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, violence, and other threats against the company and its employees.

*Conducts an ongoing review of existing security programs and initiates continual improvement through the development of new programs and the implementation of new procedures and technologies.

*Screens, supervises and trains in-house and contract security staff. Works with the contract security vendor in the development and maintenance of post orders, security procedures and work schedules, and conducts training of the contract security staff. Reviews daily security logs and reports, and conducts periodic unannounced security inspections and site visits.

*Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the access control, fire protection, and CCTV systems, and project management related to system installations and upgrades.

*Oversees the security badge program: the issuance of badges for employees and contractors; the creation and programming of access templates; the maintenance of badge inventories, access records, and other security archives; and the training of vendors on security protocols and procedures.

*Provides training for employees on company security policies and procedures, and security related topics like building alarms, crisis response, and workplace violence prevention and response. 

*Conducts internal investigations related to security issues or incidents and makes recommendations to management for appropriate response. Coordinates the involvement of, and acts as the company’s liaison with, law enforcement, when appropriate.

*Team leader or key team member for crisis response and disaster recovery.

*Provides consulting support to corporate subsidiaries on executive protection and broad corporate security matters as requested, making recommendations to site management on program improvements and system enhancements.

*Assists in the development and administration of annual capital and operating budgets related to security and fire protection.

*Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

*B.S. degree in Industrial Security, Criminal Justice, Business Administration or a related field.  M.S. degree in Security Management, Risk Management or a related field desirable. Equivalent formal technical training in law enforcement or the security industry will be considered. 

*Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation and active membership in the American Society for Industrial Security required.

*Minimum 5 - 10 years of progressively responsible corporate security management experience within an organization having multiple facilities.*Must have experience building effective security programs from scratch.

*Demonstrated proficiency in project management related to commercial building security and fire protection system installation and modification, and extensive knowledge and experience operating and maintaining these systems.

*Driver’s license and vehicle required.
