Job Title: Corporate Counsel
Reports to: (1) CFO and (2) VP, Intellectual Property/Chief Patent Counsel
Location: Boston, MA
Date: March 17, 2008
Description/Purpose: A general corporate attorney to provide day-to-day legal guidance to all areas of the Company. The successful candidate will work within Mascoma’s internal Legal group and will work closely with senior leadership, internal functional groups, and outside counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and negotiating contracts and ancillary agreements, including service agreements, supply agreements, equipment procurement agreements, etc. Reviewing and revising third party contracts and agreements and providing legal guidance on contract interpretation Attending to corporate governance matters Advising the Human Resources Group on employment matters Identifying legal issues and integrating legal advice with business objectives Supporting the general legal function, including coordinating with outside counsel on diverse legal matters
Minimum Qualifications: J.D. and 5 to 10 years experience in corporate or business law. The ideal candidate has experience in a large law firm setting and in-house experience, especially in a start-up environment. Candidates should be well-organized with excellent analytical and communication skills, and must be comfortable independently handling a variety of corporate legal matters. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills, be team-oriented, and be able to interact effectively at all levels of the organization. Must be admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
