Description: Purpose of the Job/Principal Responsibilities: The Copy Manager will be instrumental in the growth and success of the Brand and Advertising team in our Marketing Department. He or she should be an original thinker whos passionate about producing great work; someone who can contribute to building consistent messages for the existing brand as well as new products. He or she must also have the ability to manage, collaborate with, and inspire a team of writers. Responsibilities include writing long and short-form marketing collateral, website copy, print ads, presentations, and more. Three work samples must be provided with resume (pdf, jpg, or gif format, or url address). Candidates must show additional work during the interview process. Typical Activities for a Copy Manager Include: - Develop copy and campaigns building the Kaplan University brand - Assign and supervise projects of copywriters. Manage HR requirements of copywriters - Effectively work on multiple projects at the same time and meet any overlaps as they arise - Work with other team members to develop original solutions/ideas as they are necessary - Actively learn and keep up with the company and its marketing goals A typical activities breakdown will be: - 30%-Concepting and writing - 20%-Editing - 20%-Research - 15%-Website updating - 15%-Staff management Qualifications: Experience Required: - Knowledgeable writer with 5+ years experience required - Supervisory background in agency or in-house advertising/marketing environment - Bachelors degree or equivalent education and work experience preferred - Strong organizational and reasoning ability - Advanced research skills including Web research - Excellent portfolio samples showcasing solid copywriting ability in various platforms - Capable of providing design and strategic insight across various projects - Word, Outlook, Acrobat, PowerPoint, Excel Position Requirements/Scope of the Job/Skills Required: - Strong computer skills - Ability to think conceptually, and clearly explain and execute ideas - Experience writing for the Web, educational category experience a plus - Highly organized with solid time management skills - Team player with great interpersonal skills - Capacity to work independently/efficiently in a fast-paced environment - Ability to interface with marketing/academic executives Measurement of Success: Success will be measured by the following criteria: - Understanding of KU brand/products, knowledge of job, ability to work independently. - Creating high quality copy that is accurate, thorough, and well organized. - Producing an adequate amount of work each day, and arriving/leaving on time. - Maintaining effective oral and written communication with superiors, coworkers, and clients. - Successful execution of supervisory responsibilities for the copy team - Displaying a positive attitude and a commitment to the position. - Willingness and ability to learn new duties Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience Full time employees enjoy these outstanding benefits: *401(k) plan *Comprehensive health, dental and short term disability & long term disability plans *Business casual dress code *Sick days, personal days, holidays, and vacation days *A friendly, team oriented environment Job Location: Ft.
