This position assists the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs with respect to undergraduate student advising (undeclared engineering students and new advanced standing students). The Coordinator of Advising also coordinates the Freshman Preview/Pre-Registration events for new freshmen, as well as the new student orientation events in fall. This position will also coordinate regular training sessions for college faculty/advisors, and will assist with transfer credit records and electronic recording of all curriculum substitutions/waivers. Finally, this position assists the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in coordinating and scheduling the freshmen engineering (GEEN) courses and the engineering ethics & values (ENEV) colloquia.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

7. Commitment to high quality academic advising and to the improvement and enhancement of the process.
This position requires a college education (ideally B.S. in engineering) with 3-5 years work experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; extensive computer skills including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Outlook, Excel; and the ability to learn software programs independently to use the university's PeopleSoft data base to view student histories and maintain student class schedules.
Knowledge of university computing systems and academic procedures preferred.
