Title: Controller

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Location: Rockville, MD

Salary: $150k plus 20% bonus

 

Job Description

 

Responsible for managing the affairs of the accounting department; plan, organize, direct and control the accounting functions of the companyRecommending and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and required internal controlsSupervision of month-end close to ensure timely and accurate issuance of financial statementsPeriodic general ledger account analysis, sub-ledger reconciliations, adjusting entries as requiredOversee the filing and remittance of regulatory, franchise and other taxesAssisting with the annual budget process and analyzing the monthly comparisons of budget-to-actual informationResponsible for coordinating the annual financial audit and responding to other audit inquiries as necessaryMaintain credibility throughout the Company as an effective problem solver; ability to be viewed as approachable and as a mentor to people on financial and system issuesManage special projects that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting organizationInspiring and motivating others to perform well and gives appropriate recognition to others

Requirements

 

1)    CPA Required

2)    Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline required

3)    MBA desired

4)    Minimum 5 years of related professional experience and/or training

5)    High ethical standards and an appropriate professional image

6)    Great Plains Accounting Software

7)    Some travel required

8)    Spanish language capability a plus

9)    Telecom industry experience a plus
